Hooray for a long holiday weekend as July 4th falls on a Friday this year, leaving you a full 3-day weekend of fun in Lake Havasu! Start your July 4th weekend off with a fireworks show that cannot be beat. After the sun goes down, watch the sky light up over Thompson Bay with fellow boaters, beach-goers and tailgaters. Tell your family and friends to bring their lawn chairs and get to their viewing location early so they can celebrate the magic and wonder of this Fourth of July fireworks spectacular. Or spend the day on the water and just tie up with your fellow boaters in Thompson Bay to watch the fireworks from the comfort of your boat.

Best land-viewing locations are Rotary Park and The Nautical Beachfront ResortThe Nautical Beachfront Resort is located on the island and there is plenty of free parking. Coolers and outside alcohol is not permitted.

Rotary Park has a fantastic swim area that's free and there is lots of parking available as they've expanded the parking by 300 spaces behind the Aquatic Center. Access to Rotary Park is much easier with a new secondary access through the Tinnell Memorial Sports Park (the new skate park). Viewing from Rotary Park gives you a straight-shot to view the fireworks that will be set off directly across the bay on Lookout Point (at The Nautical Beachfront Resort). If the parking is full, off-site parking is available just outside Rotary Park on city streets and empty lots. You may bring coolers in but no alcohol is allowed.

If you're planning on being on the water, anywhere in Thompson Baywill give you a great view of the fireworks. However, the bay can get quite congested so try to anchor early.  Anchoring both the bow and stern is highly recommended due to wind and current. Also be aware that there may be significant delays at the boat ramps for retrieval after the fireworks show has ended. Please use caution when going through the Channel at night.

The fireworks show will be simulcast on KNTR 980AM - enjoy the live simulcast with music set specifically to the fireworks display!

Pets: Fireworks are loud and sometimes very startling. Please keep this in mind when deciding to bring your four-legged family members to the event.
